PAC Mate

Description:

The PAC Mate Omni is the ultimate mobile computing solution for blind and visually impaired users. The Omni is the newest generation of the PAC Mate. (Freedom Scientifics’ accessible Pocket PC.) The PAC Mate Omni provides a host of productivity tools that enable access to virtually every application that sighted users of mainstream PDA devices enjoy. The Omni runs “Mobile” versions of popular Microsoft Office applications and uses Microsoft ActiveSync or Microsoft Windows Mobile Center to seamlessly synchronize with your desktop computer. Your e-mail, Contacts, appointments, files, tasks, and even web favourites are effortlessly updated every time you connect. It all happens in the background, while you use your PC or PAC Mate. The versatile Omni meets the on-the-go needs of users at work, at school, and at play with everything from word processing, to spreadsheets, to mobile Web access.

The Omni is powered by Windows Mobile 6.0, the very latest Microsoft operating system, which is also the most keyboard-friendly version of this type of operating system ever.

With full support for soft keys in Windows Mobile products, the Omni enables you to install and easily operate a variety of off-the-shelf third-party Windows Mobile applications that offer keyboard support.

Add a 20 or 40 cell Braille display to the PACmate in seconds without tools or cables. Just release the latch in the back of the unit and snap in a PACmate portable Braille Display. Remove the display just as easily to use it with your desktop or laptop via USB. The economy and flexibility in this design means you get the most from your Braille display investment.

Turn on the Omni, and you’ll immediately notice the familiar feel and sound of JAWS, the world’s most popular screen reading software. The Omni can also be used to authorise a demonstration copy of JAWS for as long as it is connected to the PC. The Omni is loaded with context-sensitive help features to get you up and running quickly with pre-installed mobile versions of numerous Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Calendar, Outlook, Inbox, Contacts, Internet Explorer, and Windows Media Player.
